San Jose, Calif., July 31, 2002 - ICET, a prominent Italian telecommunications manufacturer, and Jungo Software Technologies Inc., a leading provider of residential gateway software and technologies, today announced that ICET has started production of Its Integral xDSL IAD product line - a family of voice and data gateways that are based on Jungo's OpenRG residential gateway software platform.
ICET's Integral xDSL IAD family features a robust solution for integration of data and voice using xDSL over ATM networks and offering a modular solution to support different WAN, LAN and voice configurations. Powered by Jungo's OpenRG, ICET's IADs provide a wealth of broadband applications and services such as Internet sharing (NAT/PAT), VoDSL for connecting multiple phones to a single broadband connection (ELCP, CAS), Networking (DNS, DHCP), remote management (SNMP) and local management through a user friendly web based interface.
"Jungo's OpenRG has enabled ICET to quickly bring to market a sophisticated device while reducing development costs and focusing on our core technology," remarked Orlando Galuppi, General Manager of ICET. "Our Integral xDSL IAD's modular approach provides solutions for the residential, SOHO and SME markets."
ICET's IADs are based on the Intel® IXP225 network processor, which is bundled with an optimized version of OpenRG, jointly developed by Intel and Jungo. The Intel IXP225 network processor is optimized for cost and power-sensitive applications and ideal for DSL modems, routers and residential gateways.
Steve Price, General manager of Intel's Integrated Access Business Unit commented, "The broadband access market segment requires high performance, low cost solutions with robust software offerings. Using the Intel IXP225 network processor and OpenRG software, ICET is providing the market with a cost-effective, robust device."
OpenRG's ARM® technology based VoDSL solution supports the current signaling standards, namely Channel Associated Signaling (CAS), and Common Channel for Signaling (CCS), based on ELCP. OpenRG conforms to all the market standards for VoDSL using AAL2 (BLES) namely, ATM Forum AF-VMOA-0145.000, ITU-T I.363.2, I.366.2, I.366.1, and ETSI-ELCP.
"OpenRG for ICETs new Integral xDSL IAD successfully passed the interoperability tests with Tdsoft's market leading TdGATE. Jungo's integrated software solution for IADs combined with Tdsoft's ELCP Signaling stack will help materialize our vision of mass deployment of VoDSL for residential/SOHO and SME users," said Eytan Radian EVP Technology & Product Management at Tdsoft Communications Ltd.
"ARM core-based solutions, such as the IXP225 network processors, provide significant integration and performance/cost benefits to IAD and residential gateway OEMs," said Bruce Beckloff, segment manager, Networking, ARM. "Together with Jungo's powerful software suite, developers can quickly develop differentiated ADSL IAD solutions for the growing broadband market, as exemplified by this new product from ICET."
