Securing Your Wireless Network

OpenRG's wireless network is ready for operation with its default values. However, as soon as your wireless connection is established, any computer with a wireless capability can connect to your LAN. The following section describes how to prevent this scenario, by securing your wireless connection using the Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) security protocol.

The Wi-Fi Alliance created the WPA security protocol as a data encryption method for 802.11 wireless local area networks (WLANs). WPA is an industry-supported, pre-standard version of 802.11i utilizing the Temporal Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP), which fixes the problems of Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP), including the use of dynamic keys.
