OpenRG is comprised of three main elements:
- Tasks are responsible for implementing a specific
functionality, such as Firewall, VPN or SNMP.
- A communal Configuration Database is used by all tasks to
store information, as well as other system settings.
- Coordination Logic is employed to run the show,
synchronizing and switching between the various tasks.
An illustration of OpenRG's component partitioning is depicted in
figure 17.1.
Throughout this book, we will use the following terminology:
- Main Task will be used when referring to the coordination logic
component.
- rg_conf will be used to describe the configuration database.
