U.S. Robotics Selects Jungo for Next-Generation Networking Products
Core Software Technologies Based on OpenRG Will Enhance the Networking Experience in the Broadband Home and SOHO Environments
Chicago & San Jose, Calif., Jan. 21, 2003 - U.S. Robotics®, the world's leading provider of Internet access and connectivity products, and Jungo® Software Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of residential gateway software, today announced that Jungo's OpenRG residential gateway software will provide the core software infrastructure for a new range of U.S. Robotics' networking products. OpenRG is a suite of software technologies that includes an operating system, drivers, remote management capabilities and applications, which enrich and simplify networking for both broadband users and service providers. By incorporating OpenRG's pre-integrated and already proven software modules into its next-generation of broadband networking products, U.S. Robotics will continue its tradition of bringing to market high-quality networking devices that deliver reliability and ease of use. OpenRG will also allow U.S. Robotics to reduce development costs and speed up the product development cycle, allowing the company to focus on high-quality customized features that will differentiate their devices from others in the market. "Partnering with Jungo was an ideal fit for us because of their reputation for working with broadband access device manufacturers and their expertise in the software platforms that offer value to the broadest range of networking equipment," said Frank Sugino, strategic development manager for U.S. Robotics. "U.S. Robotics' already feature-rich networking equipment now can be further extended by our engineers for even greater functionality and usability. OpenRG enables us to accelerate product production cycles and further cements our leading position as a dedicated provider of broadband and networking connectivity solutions," he added. "Broadband service providers are struggling to reduce the provisioning costs associated with broadband deployment," said Michael Greeson, principal analyst with Parks Associates. "By incorporating Jungo's OpenRG platform into its next generation of SOHO and residential gateways, U.S. Robotics can enable service providers to remotely provision and manage additional broadband services while ensuring end-users a product which makes for easy set-up and a seamless service experience."
