Jungo and Airgo Introduce a Production-Ready 802.11 MIMO Wireless Design for the Home and Office Gateway Market

Newly Introduced Reference Design to be Showcased at Networld+Interop, Las Vegas, on May 3-5, 2005 in Jungo's Booth #575

Networld+Interop, LAS VEGAS, Nevada, May 3, 2005- Jungo Software Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of residential, SOHO and SMB gateway software, and Airgo Networks, Inc., pioneer and world leader of MIMO (multiple input/multiple output) technology-the foundation for next generation Wi-Fi-announced today the release of a production-ready hardware and software reference design for OEMs and ODMs developing residential and office gateways with advanced 802.11 MIMO wireless networking capabilities.

Based on Jungo's software platform and Airgo Networks' True MIMO™ wireless chipset technology, the new reference design allows OEMs and ODMs to develop MIMO-enhanced, 802.11-compliant gateways with significantly improved performance and reliability-delivering a robust wireless connection and larger coverage area with the bandwidth and quality of service needed to run advanced applications such as streaming video or Voice over IP (VoIP).

Jungo's complete Linux-based gateway software platform fully supports Airgo's wireless chipset on a production ready reference platform providing OEMs all the hardware, software and documentation information needed to easily bring to market high-performance, next generation MIMO-enhanced wireless gateways. This new hardware support adds to Jungo's long list of supported reference platforms, allowing Jungo's customers to leverage pre-integrated solutions to shorten design cycles and get products to market faster.

True MIMO refers to the type of MIMO technology based on spatial multiplexing as designed into all major proposals for the 802.11n standard. By leveraging multipath, reflections of a radio signal, and transmitting multiple signals in a single 20MHz radio channel, Airgo's True MIMO multiplies both data rates and reliable coverage area without using additional frequency spectrum and without causing interference with other Wi-Fi networks. True MIMO data rates up to 108Mbps and 802.11a/b/g rates up to 54Mbps are supported simultaneously in a single 802.11 radio channel that maintains international regulatory compliance. Additionally, True MIMO-based products have been shown to improve the performance when connected to conventional 802.11a/b/g products on any given network.
