Cavium Networks and Jungo Deliver Residential and SMB Gateway Solutions With High Performance and Scalability
Production Ready Reference Platforms Based on Cavium Processors and Jungo’s OpenRG and OpenSMB Enable Feature-Rich, Cost-Effective ADSL2+ to Gigabit PON Gateways
Mountain View and San Jose, Calif. February 5, 2007
Cavium Networks, a leading provider of semiconductor products that enable intelligent processing for networking, communications and security applications, and Jungo Ltd. a leading provider of broadband gateway middleware, today announced the availability of Jungo’s OpenRG and OpenSMB gateway software for Cavium’s OCTEON CN30XX MIPS64-based Processor family. The production-ready reference platforms deliver solution performance from sub-100 Mbps to greater than 500 Mbps using the same board design and software are ideal for next generation Multi-Play Residential and Business Gateways.
Broadband Gateways are rapidly evolving to support higher performance and richer functionality at current price points. OCTEON CN3010 and CN3005 processor families provide the needed performance, processing capability to support Jungo’s feature–rich middleware, and a high degree of scalability. The Jungo feature set includes Stateful QoS, DSLHome, advanced routing, security, VoIP, IP-PBX, wireless LAN, print server, file server and UPnP AV Media Server. Gateways based on this platform, are designed to enable Service Providers to rapidly deliver advanced broadband services to the residential and small business markets. Services such as IPTV, home media distribution, remote file access, video surveillance and content filtering are available and more services can be added in a timely manner, designed to allow service providers to not only keep up with but stay ahead of market demands.
“With increased broadband access speeds and rapid deployment of FTTH, Gigabit Ethernet and 802.11n wireless LAN, there is a growing need for higher performance gateways. Additionally, service providers and SME users are demanding support for voice, video and data traffic with end-to-end QoS and security,” said Rajiv Khemani, Vice President of Marketing at Cavium Networks. “Our OCTEON CN30XX processors coupled with Jungo software offer a compelling, cost-effective and scalable solution to support the performance and feature requirements of our mutual customers.”
“The high performance OCTEON based platform combined with Jungo’s feature-rich software is designed to enable migration of full featured applications from SMB/SME market to revenue generating services for the residential market,” said Ofer Vilenski, Jungo’s CEO. “Thanks to this new integrated solution, deployment of complete home networking solutions including privacy-sensitive services such as remote file access and secure remote management are now made possible and are affordable for OEMs and Service Providers.”
