Interface Masters And Jungo Introduce Turnkey Residential/SOHO Gateway Design Ready for High-Volume Manufacturing
Kings Canyon Design Combines Benefits of Jungo’s OpenRG Residential Gateway Software with the Intel® IXP425 Network Processor
San Jose, Calif., July 31, 2003
Interface Masters, a full service design and development consulting company, and Jungo® Software Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of residential gateway software, today announced the introduction of Kings Canyon, a turnkey hardware and software residential and small office/home office (SOHO) gateway design based on Jungo’s OpenRG residential gateway software, the Intel® IXP425 network processor and board design by Interface Masters.
The design offers broadband customer premise equipment (CPE) vendors the opportunity to rapidly enter high-volume production of residential and SOHO gateways, wireless access points or integrated access devices (IADs), with a single and small form factor board. In addition, the Kings Canyon design allows Interface Masters or the customer to rapidly customize the board to ensure market differentiation.
“Kings Canyon offers our customers a very cost-effective and time-saving route to mass production of broadband CPE,” said Udi Yuhjtman, VP business development at Jungo. “Furthermore, the close cooperation between Jungo and Interface Masters enables our customers to easily add market differentiating features to the base design in a very short time period.”
Kings Canyon provides one wide area network (WAN) Ethernet port, four local area network (LAN) ports, Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0/1.1, Firewire and an optional wireless LAN interface through Mini PCI ports. The OpenRG software integrated in the design offers an optimized Linux operating system, optional VxWorks support, communication and routing protocols, a Stateful Packet Inspection Firewall, Wireless LAN security (802.1x, RADIUS client, WPA), Virtual Private Networking (VPN), Universal Plug and Play, web-based management and remote upgrade capabilities.
“We have combined one of the most popular network processors in the residential gateway market with one of the leading software platforms to create this highly attractive design,” said Ben Askarinam, VP engineering at Interface Masters. “Kings Canyon has already generated a great amount of interest among CPE vendors who understand the value that such a production-ready design brings, and we look forward to seeing a variety of CPE brought to market based on this solution.”
