Jungo Software Technologies Joins with Conexant to Provide a Complete Reference Design for Broadband IADs / Residential Gateways
Sunnyvale, Calif., March 21, 2001
Jungo Software Technologies Inc., today announced a long-term strategic agreement to provide fully operational broadband and residential gateway reference designs to Conexant Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CNXT), a worldwide leader in semiconductor system solutions for communications applications. Together the companies will provide integrated access device (IAD) and residential gateway OEMs with a seamless integrated solution for quickly developing asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL)-based broadband access devices, with the intent of speeding manufacturers’ time-to-market.
“As the residential gateway market continues to grow, system vendors are looking for solutions, to quickly bring a quality product to the market. We are pleased to collaborate with Conexant to offer a residential gateway reference design with on-board software,” said Ofer Vilenski, president and chief executive officer for Jungo. “OEMs who choose Conexant’s ADSL chipset will be able to offer broadband access devices that include the sophisticated expandable software needed to meet the evolving requirements of the market.”
“We’re pleased to work with Jungo to provide leading-edge networking, DSL, and voice-over-IP software solutions that will create feature rich residential gateways,” said Nick Burd, director of marketing for ADSL products within Conexant’s Personal Computing Division.
The reference design combines Conexant’s AccessRunnerTM multi-function ADSL chipset with Jungo’s OpenRG residential gateway software platform and includes:
- Small footprint, Linux based operating system
- Data over DSL
- Security- Jungo’s stateful inspection firewall and virtual private network (VPN) pass through support.
- Remote Management (browser interface- Web and SNMP based)
- Automatic IP configuration (DHCP server and client)
- Internet sharing – network address translation (NAT)
- Routing
The first reference design will be available for OEMs on April 2001. Under the agreement, Jungo and Conexant will cooperate to offer advanced platforms, which include voice over DSL (VoDSL), voice over IP (VoIP), HomePNA phoneline networking and a comprehensive virtual private network (VPN). This cooperation ensures OEMs with pre-integrated software and hardware solution for ADSL broadband access devices.
