Jungo’s Innovative Jungo.net Product Dramatically Simplifies and Reduces the Timeline and Costs for the Delivery of Broadband CPE-based Services

New Software Solution from Jungo Provides Turnkey Services for Broadband Operators and Self-Provisioning for Subscribers

Paris, France October 12, 2006

Jungo Ltd. the leading provider of broadband gateway middleware announces the general availability of a powerful new addition to its software portfolio, Jungo.net.
Jungo.net is an innovative service delivery system that includes a back office server, CPE agent, customer network management portal, subscriber database and development APIs which in aggregate provide broadband operators with a turnkey model for going to market with new revenue-generating services. Although the platform is marketed as Jungo.net, the software is easily customizable to assume the look and feel and branding of the operator deploying it.

Jungo.net has the power to change the disjointed, costly and time-consuming service productization model that currently hinders operators. Jungo.net at a system-level pre-integrates and defines new service offerings instead of placing those burdens on the broadband provider. For example, in the current cumbersome service model, if a broadband operator wanted to upgrade their residential gateway from a data-only solution to a full-featured Voice over IP (VoIP) device with IP-PBX functionality, these are the broad steps that they would need to take:

  • complex regression testing on the CPE software upgrade for adding just these specific features
  • business logic for service provisioning added to Operational Support System (OSS)
  • custom development to support remote management of these new features in the Auto-Configuration Server (ACS)
  • modifications to the device graphical user interface for subscriber configuration set-up
  • service-specific remote software upgrade process that would be supported on a per subscriber basis

Despite all the integration effort involved in delivering services, the solution still falls short in flexibility. The broadband operator can only offer a small set of pre-defined bundles, which might not meet a subscriber’s need when he is really just looking for a la carte options that match his preferences. These are the technical and operational challenges, which are matched by the complication and expense of selling and marketing these new services through conventional means.

Jungo.net eliminates these per service challenges with a one-time integration effort of Jungo.net with the broadband operator’s OSSs, Business Support Systems (BSSs) and ACSs or with a fully outsourced model where Jungo can host, manage and support Jungo.net-based services. In either case, Jungo with Jungo.net will have already done all the system integration work necessary to bring the VoIP/IP-PBX service, per the example, to market. Moreover, it also addresses the costly sales, marketing and support challenges that are tied to a new service.

Jungo.net is unique in its ability to enable the broadband operator to promote a hassle-free, yet full-featured trial service model that will compel subscribers to test out services at no risk. The operator has almost no sales/marketing expenses in this model because the subscriber is prompted to sign-up for this preview service when they first get their gateway and are presented with a configuration portal automatically when the trial service becomes available. The broadband provider will be assured of a high uptake rate by gaining a foothold with their subscribers by engaging them with the new functionality before asking them to make the financial commitment.

Additionally, the Jungo.net framework drives down the operational cost of supporting subscribers in two-different ways. The first is by allowing the subscriber to self-subscribe to new services through their customized service activation portal without requiring a call to the customer service operator. In this powerful Jungo.net model the subscriber service package is fully customizable without constraints. The second is by driving them through a centralized configuration wizard that leads them through a software upgrade- and error-free service set-up, which will shrink considerably the number of phone calls to the support center. This TR-069 Simple Set-UpTM is something that is unique to the Jungo.net technology.

Jungo.net is an open, flexible and services-rich solution that has been designed to scale for Tier One service providers who will find it can seamlessly exist with the DSL Forum TR-069 infrastructure that they are cultivating for remote CPE management. All elements of the Jungo.net platform can exist as full-blown stand-alone elements or can be integrated with whatever pre-existing solutions they have. For instance, Jungo.net’s customer network management portal code-base is flexible enough to be embedded within an already deployed solution by the operator simply enriching it with the Jungo.net software value-add.

“Above all else we believe that Jungo.net’s importance is as the fastest means to a highly differentiated roadmap of multi-play and beyond services.” Highlights Ofer Vilenski, CEO of Jungo Ltd.

Jungo.net services today include:

  • remote file sharing
  • customer managed web server
  • web content-filtering
  • managed anti-virus/anti-spam

In the future these services will include:

  • cell phone access to video content
  • managed file storage and back-up
  • remote video-surveillance
  • and many more…

In addition, the open APIs for the Jungo.net server ensure that third-party services can easily be pre-integrated within the overall system; such as the content-filtering service, which is from SurfControl. These same APIs give the broadband operator the flexibility to determine their own roadmap for Jungo.net-based services.
