- Provide a new nationwide WLAN roaming service to existing customers
- Convert subscribers by offering trial broadband services without initial hardware rollout
- NationZone TM can be remotely installed by Operators into existing Customer Premise Equipment (CPE)
San Jose Calif., February 25, 2008
Jungo Ltd., a leading provider of broadband service solutions, today announced the release of NationZone TM , a gateway middleware based solution that can transform every home gateway into an operator hotspot while fully maintaining the security and bandwidth assurance for the home.
As opposed to other hotspot services that require the rollout of new hardware, Jungo’s NationZone enables Operators to “turn on” the wireless network through a simple remote upgrade of the CPE firmware, thereby leveraging their existing CPE infrastructure, and launching a new service that creates a true nationwide “zone” which provides value to subscribers from day one.
“Operators need to acquire new subscribers and expand revenues by offering new services, while minimizing infrastructure and operational costs involved with the rollout of the new service”, said Eran Rom, Jungo’s CEO. “With Jungo’s NationZone TM , Operators can introduce new services, create more revenues and increase customer loyalty by utilizing the excess bandwidth and processing the power of millions of CPEs already deployed in the field”.
NationZone – Revenue generating wireless services
Operators deploying NationZone are able to introduce a new class of wireless broadband, an entry level broadband service, to expand their product portfolio and increase revenues. Research studies from around the world indicate that a significant number of households still do not have broadband, even in developed telecom markets. Typical reasons cited are short-term tenancy or limited disposable income. This segment can be served with a low-cost, lower-bandwidth broadband access solution using existing CPE equipment and excess bandwidth from nearby homes. With NationZone, subscribers receive reduced bandwidth and service assurance, but pay only a fraction of the regular retail broadband price. Operators can introduce this service without adding to their operational expenditures as the bandwidth and equipment are already in place.
NationZone – New customer acquisition
NationZone provides an innovative method for attracting customers. Subscribers of other networks searching for an open Wi-Fi connection (e.g. when out of the home or when their connection goes down temporarily) may find a NationZone powered operator hotspot and get free, limited-time access in return for agreeing that the operator can engage them after this free trial ends.
NationZone – Existing customers – promoting loyalty
NationZone also increases existing customer loyalty by offering Wi-Fi roaming at no extra charge. New subscribers who sign on to the network, via a low cost roaming wireless service, may later upgrade to fixed broadband service at home.
Operators can introduce Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) while reducing operational expenses by utilizing Wi-Fi instead of GSM in the NationZone range. Subscribers can enjoy the benefits of an FMC solution, paying local landline call rates for fixed as well as cellular calls while they are in the NationZone hotspot range.
