New Wireless-G VPN Router Includes Jungo’s Recently Launched Wireless Security Modules and is Verified with
the Intel® Centrino™ Mobile Technology Seal
San Jose, Calif., October 1, 2003
Jungo® Software Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of residential gateway software, today announced that its OpenRG software is being deployed in the recently launched Wireless-G VPN Router from Linksys, a Division of Cisco Systems, Inc. The new router, known as WRV54G, is verified with the Intel® Centrino™ Mobile Technology seal and also includes Jungo’s newly launched OpenRG for Wireless Gateways platform, which provides 802.1x authorization and authentication, and a RADIUS client.
The Wireless-G VPN Routers are built on the OpenRG software suite which includes an optimized embedded Linux operating system, a Stateful Inspection Firewall, Virtual Private Networking (VPN), Universal Plug and Play, and networking technologies that ease the set-up and administration of the network in the home, small office/home office (SOHO) and very small business.
“As the demand for secure, more sophisticated and user-friendly home and SOHO networking services grows, Jungo’s OpenRG, in conjunction with our new Wireless-G VPN router, provides our customers with the software infrastructure that fulfills their needs,” said Janie Tsao, vice president of sales and business development of Linksys. “OpenRG’s architecture of software technologies has allowed us to quickly bring to market a customized and unique solution that provides VPN, security and easier setup and use.”
The Wireless-G Routers enable Linksys’ customers to share a broadband connection and establish a home or very small business network over Wireless-G (802.11g/54Mbps), or Wireless-B (802.11b/11Mbps) and Ethernet. The router and network are configured through a user-friendly web-based management and the VPN function allows up to 50 remote or traveling users with a VPN endpoint to securely access the office or home network over the Internet.
“By incorporating OpenRG into their new Wireless-G VPN router, Linksys has built on a unified services platform that incorporates the latest networking technologies, eases the user experience and lowers Linksys’ overall support costs,” said Ofer Vilenski, CEO and co-founder of Jungo. “In addition, the WRV54G is an excellent example of how Linksys is succeeding to bring together best-of breed technologies to provide their customers with secure and high performance products at affordable prices.”
