USBware Now Supports Atmel's New ARM9-Based MCU

Jungo's USBware embedded connectivity solutions now includes support for Atmel's new ARM9 high speed USB Device MCU. Jungo offers a production-level and deployed drivers for on-chip high speed USB controllers. Jungo's extensive array of function drivers including Audio, Video, PTP, MTP and Mass Storage have all been tested on the new platform. The "USB High Speed link provides the bandwidth to transfer streaming video between the host and the AT91SAM9RL64 co-processor."

Jungo Releases USBTester Version 1.4

On April 10, 2008 Jungo officially released version 1.4 of USBTester. The new version includes added support for multi-core CPU's, hyper-threading, additional support and relevant tests for devices which implements Interface Association Descriptors (IAD), enhanced internal test log processing and improved log messages.

USBTester is a software-based USB testing solution, designed primarily for USB developers. USBTester is a powerful USB device testing tool capable of conducting comprehensive USB validation test, Chapter-9 conformance testing, standard class driver functionality verification, performance and much more.

Jungo Offers Device Firmware Upgrade (DFU) Driver

Jungo's DFU driver is responsible for installing new firmware provided by the device manufacturers, for devices that have already been deployed, while keeping the process seamless to the end users.

The latest version of WinDriver was released earlier this week. New features include: Enhanced support for PCI and PCI Express Messaged-Signaled Interrupts (MSI) and Extended Messaged-Signaled Interrupts (MSI-X), including DriverWizard GUI and code generation improvements, new Kernel PlugIn APIs, and modified sample code; a new Kernel PlugIn sample for the Xilinx Virtex 5 PCI Express Chip; and support for shared PCI interrupts on Windows CE.

The WinDriver product line enables driver development for USB, PCI, PCI Express, CardBus, CompactPCI, ISA, PMC, PCI-X, PCI-104 and PCMCIA based devices, and supports Windows 2000/XP/XP Embedded/Server 2003/Vista, Windows CE.NET, Windows Mobile, Linux, Solaris and VxWorks.

Jungo Releases New USBware MTP Class Driver

The Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) is designed for content exchange between a portable media device and a PC, as well as for remote command and control of the device from the PC. Jungo's Connectivity Software, has announced today the latest release of its USBTester, version 1.2.2

Key feature in USBTester 1.2.2 include Bus analyzers integration with LeCroy's USBMobile HS (Hi-Speed) USB bus and protocol analyzer. This is in addition to the existing support of Ellisys' BUS analyzer, and is another step in expanding USBTester support for commercial BUS analyzers.

A new Evaluation Version of USB ECM (Ethernet Control Module) Class Driver

Jungo released a complete and comprehensive evaluation version of its USB CDC ECM driver, in addition to CDC ACM, OBEX and USB2Serial evaluation versions.

The CDC ECM driver exposes the USB device as a network adapter to the operating system. In this model, various Ethernet functions are managed through a communication interface, and the actual Ethernet framed data is sent over the data interface. The driver supports NDIS 5.0/5.1 and NDIS 6.0.

The evaluation version enables validation of various features provided by the protocol, and includes installation and testing utilities, which are provided with source code to allow further integration with the customers' installers.

Jungo Announces availability of Video Function/Class Drivers for USBware's embedded USB host, embedded USB device and OTG stacks.

Fully compliant with the USB-IF Video Class Specification, the new Video Function Driver offers developers of video capture devices to stream video images directly to any Windows* PC utilizing USB's high speed transfer capacity of up to 480 Mega bits per second.

The Video Function Driver is fully compliant with the Microsoft Video Class Driver, which is provided as an integral part of Windows XP/SP2 and Vista. Developers using this solution are not required to provide any additional host drivers. In addition, host applications can be integrated using standard Windows multimedia APIs.

The Video Function Driver is an ideal solution for embedded devices with imaging capture capabilities such as Webcams, imaging devices, video transceivers & medical devices required to transfer data to and from a PC.

The driver includes support for all still image transfer methods and is provided together with a graphical configuration tool allowing developers to input device settings such as processing unit, contrast and number of cameras directly into the auto-generated descriptor file.

Jungo Announces Availability of its USBware Video Function Driver

As part of its USBware (embedded USB software stack) product line, Jungo has released a fully compliant Video function driver. Designed to reside on top of Jungo's USB Device Stacks, the Video function driver allows device manufactures to easily connect and stream data to a Windows XP PC utilizing the recently released Windows native Video Class Driver.

The function driver includes a generic library allowing the device application to implement all or only sections of the video class specification. This includes all defined terminals and units including, Camera, Media Transport (in/out), Display, Selector and Processing. All terminal defined properties are also supported, such as scanning mode, auto exposure mode, auto exposure priority, focus, iris, zoom, pan, tilt etc.

All video streaming formats are supported including uncompressed, MJPEG, MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4 and DV. Still Image transfers is also supported under all three available methods.

To allow quick configuration and automatic generation of the video descriptors, the driver is accompanied by a custom graphical user interface.

Jungo Software Technologies Inc. today announced that its market leading USB/PCI driver development toolkit, WinDriver, now supports the latest Windows Vista operating system. WinDriver developers can now port their existing drivers to Windows Vista without making any modifications to their driver code base.

WinDriver 8.10 includes support for Windows Vista Beta 2 (and later) on x86 and x64 architectures. WinDriver has been adapted and tested on the latest beta versions of Vista with the plan to support the official release as soon as it becomes generally available. The Vista support will be part of the standard WinDriver for Windows package, enabling customers with a valid support subscription to get the upgrade free of charge.

Allowing high speed communication between the PC and USB peripheral is a strong requirement from embedded devices. Jungo's new version of the CDC-ACM, CDC-ECM and CDC-OBEX allows ever more flexibility and robustness offering a complete communication solution for network connectivity over the USB bus.

The CDC specification has been developed to answer the need of telecommunication services for devices based on analog or digital telephone line and medium speed networking services which use a 24/7 network connection. CDC is ideal for devices such as, Mobile Phones, Analog/ADSL/Cable Modems, analog/digital telephones Wireless Terminals, Ethernet Adaptors as well as Legacy and other network devices.

The CDC-ACM (Abstract Communication Module) allows modem devices to identify them selves as Serial devices sending and receiving AT commands over the data or control pipe. USBware Nano for Flash Devices Now Available!

Jungo's latest addition to the USBware family includes the USBware Nano Device Stacks designed especially for security critical, low power and memory limited USB flash applications. USBware Nano includes a SCSI reduced block command set (RBC) and a non-threaded interrupt driven design resulting in a minimal code footprint and requires less than 1.5 kbytes of RAM for complete mass storage functionality including a proprietary mechanism to support vendor specific security applications on the host PC.

The SCSI reduced block command set (RBC) which includes the minimal set of logic required to comply with the USB-IF Mass Storage specification results in an extra small code footprint. The Stack's RAM requirements are limited to 512 bytes used by internal data structures and 892 bytes used by the Mass Storage Function Driver.

The stack was designed with a non-thread implementation utilizing an interrupt-driven mechanism. This unique design results in a considerable reduction of ROM footprint as thread synchronization data structures are no longer required.

The Mass Storage Function Driver includes a proprietary mechanism allowing the flash peripheral to detect whether custom vendor software is installed on the host PC. In such an event the Flash Device can re-enumerate as a composite device and communicate with the vendor specific security-critical module. The stack can be used with both the Mass Storage and HID function drivers stand-alone or as a composite device.
