Fourier Systems, a leading developer and manufacturers of data acquisition devices, used Jungo's WinDriver USB to easily and effectively implement USB data streaming between their state of the art Nova5000 learning aid and a host PC.
Fourier Systems Ltd.,
established in 1989, develops, manufactures and markets advanced
and award winning data acquisition systems, for education and
industry.
Fourier Systems' products support 19 languages and distributed
to industries and science education facilities worldwide, including
USA, Singapore, Russia, Spain, UK and Latin America.
Education computing had become one of the most emphasized issues
in the past several years. Universities, schools and laboratories
worldwide are investing in efforts designed to improve their
technological infrastructure and provide the students and
researchers better measurement and analysis aids.
The time spent in the past on manual or
even primitive computing processing is now being used to better
teach concepts and theories and improve the students understanding
of the material and the analyzed data.
Fourier Systems' Nova5000 is a first of a kind learning
aid that combines the performance and functionality of a laptop,
with the size and cost of a handheld computer.
Nova5000 runs WinCE 5.0 operating systems, it has Built-in WiFi
802.11b support, Ethernet port, 12 bit input sensor interface,
CompactFlash card slot and more. Nova5000 also has 2 USB host ports
that enable the connection of USB devices to it, that are currently
used to connect HID and Mass Storage devices to it, and also USB
slave port, that enable the user to connect it to a host PC.
Fourier Systems chose Jungo's WinDriver USB to implement USB connectivity between the Nova5000 and a
host PC. This feature is required in order to transfer data to or
from a PC, which runs other analysis programs and can hold archives
of recorded data.
Fourier Systems requirements included implementing data steaming
between the Nova5000 and a host PC via a USB connection, while
developing using a user mode wizard. Another major requirement was
to simplifying the development as possible, to shorten time to market.
Support for WinCE was required as future planning for new
features and capabilities that may be added to the Nova5000.
WinDriver offered a fast driver development solution via a
graphical user interface and an intuitive user mode wizard, easing
the development and minimizing the time to market.
WinDriver supports several other operating systems, among them
WinCE. This can later be used to manifest the Nova5000 USB Host
capabilities, and able the user to connect other custom USB devices
to it.
About WinDriver
Jungo's
WinDriver™ automates and
simplifies the development of user
mode device drivers and applications for USB / PCI / PCI Express / CardBus / ISA / PCMCIA / PCI-X /
and CompactPCI under Windows 2000/XP/XP Embedded/ Server 2003, Windows CE, Linux, Solaris and VxWorks.
WinDriver provides a complete solution for creating high performance drivers and custom hardware access applications,
thereby enabling device manufacturers to focus on their driver's added-value functionality,
instead of on operating system internals and the DDK. Enhanced Built-in support is available for Actel,
Altera, Atmel, Cypress, National Semiconductor, PLDA, PLX, Microchip, Netchip, QuickLogic, Silicon Laboratories,
STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments and Xilinx.
