Based in Offenhausen Germany, Servo-Halbeck GmbH & Co.KG provides services to companies with unique motion control requirements and significant production quantities. Motion controller customization, including individual development of special interfaces for standard bus systems and software modifications, can help customers successfully meet their specific product needs.
Servo-Halback uses Jungo's WinDriver PCI for Windows 98/ME/2000/XP and WinDriver PCI for Linux to develop drivers for two of its leading products - the POSYS® 1900 and the POSYS® 1800.

POSYS® 1900 The POSYS® 1900 is a state-of-the-art 1 to 4 axes PCI-Bus motion controller supporting multiple host connection modes and motor types. The POSYS® 1900 supports parallel-bus via PCI-Bus, serial communication (RS232 and optional RS422/485) and CAN 2.0B. Motor types supported are DC brushed servo, brushless servo, microstepping and stepper motors, each axis individually configurable. Other features are the fast servo loop update rates of 50 µs/axis, 5 Mcounts/sec quadrature encoder input and on-board trace capabilities. |

| POSYS® 1800 The POSYS® 1800 is a state-of-the-art 1 to 4 axes PC/104-Bus motion controller supporting multiple host connection modes and motor types. The POSYS® 1800 supports parallel-bus via PC/104-Bus and is capable of being used as a standalone controller via serial communication RS232 or CAN 2.0B requiring only 5 VDC. Motor types supported are DC brushed servo, brushless servo, microstepping and stepper motors, each axis individually configurable. Other features are the fast servo loop update rates of 50 µs/axis, 5 Mcounts/sec quadrature encoder input and on-board trace capabilities. | ![]() |
Why was WinDriver Chosen for the PC based motion control products? Servo Halbeck has chosen Jungo's driver development tool firstly due to its easy code generation for all popular programming languages: Borland's Delphi, C++ Builder, BuilderX, Microsoft's Visual C++, C.Net, Visual Basic and the GNU C/C++ compilers.
The ease with which the WinDriver kernel module is installed on the user's target computer as well as the fact that the same code can be used for different operating systems were also significant advantages offered by WinDriver. For Servo Halbeck it was particularly important to have a cross platformed driver supporting Windows 98,ME, 2000, XP and Linux while maintaining a single driver source code.
"Our new motion controllers, series POSYS 1900 for the PCI bus and the POSYS 1800 for the ISA (PC/104) bus both require 16 bit I/O for communication with the motion processor at the fastest possible rate for command transfers and returning status information. These boards are also equipped with Dual Port RAM to store complex motion programs and real time motion status data." Said Reinhold Halbeck, Managing Director at Servo-Halbeck."Very fast communication is required and achieved using WinDriver's memory functions, writing and reading 32 bits at the speed of less than 2 micro seconds. It is therefore possible to store programs with unlimited length by continuously reloading data at a fast rate into the Dual Port RAM and having the Motion Processor read it automatically. Real time motion data can also be captured and stored in the Dual Port RAM and retrieved for display or storage."

About Servo-Halbeck
Since 1987 when Servo-Halbeck introduced its first PC-based single axis
motion controller, the POSYS® 101 and 1 year later the 2 and 3 axes
versions 102 and 103, the company is now in the phase of the fourth
generation, again proving their high expertise for designing precise,
feature rich but yet cost effective motion controllers. Unrivaled
flexibility and software compatibility through all models allow higher
integration possibilities and faster time-to-market development thereby
reducing all-over costs.
Software support for Windows, Linux (incl. RTLinux) and Solaris operating
systems (dll, shared object libraries, drivers incl. source code for
C/C++ programmers (not for drivers)) are predestined for integration into
all kinds of applications.
The POSYS® motion controllers are meanwhile used in applications like
positioning of satellite or radar dishes, laser beams, optical switches,
electronic and optical microscopes, blood manipulators and other medical
applications, material examination (mechanic and visual), semi conductor
industry, robot handling, high-end aerial scanners, die-bonding, spectral
camera positioning and activating, nano to large linear table
positioning, outdoor oil pipeline inspection, automated vehicle routing,
toothbrush testing machines or even sausage/cheese slicing and packaging
machines and many others. Click

About WinDriver
Jungo's WinDriver™ automates and simplifies the development of user-mode device drivers and applications for USB / PCI / CardBus / ISA / PCMCIA / PMC / PCI-X / PCI-104 and CompactPCI under Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP/XP Embedded/ Server 2003, Windows CE, Linux, Solaris and VxWorks. WinDriver provides a complete solution for creating high performance drivers and custom hardware access applications, thereby enabling developers to focus on their driver's added-value functionality, instead of on operating system internals and the DDK. Enhanced Built-in support is available for Actel, Altera, Atmel, CATC, Cypress, National Semiconductor, PLDA, PLX, QuickLogic, Silicon Laboratories, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments and Xilinx.
