WDV GmbH was founded in 1968 as a System House for Scientific Data Processing. Located in Garching b. Munich Germany, WDV is one of the leading European plotter manufacturers developing printer controllers for OEM print engines. The company products include Laser and LED engines, A3 desktop printers and A0 large format (36'') plotters.
WDV latest product "WDV ARTIST 8800-X" is a high performance LED plotter using the DDC (Dot Density Control) technology, which permits a highly uniform reproduction of shaded areas, images and thinnest plot lines.

WDV ARTIST 8800-X
- Embedded PC-Controller PLOTMASTER with Windows CE.NET platform
- Access via standard web browser
- Image preview via web
- Remote administration in real-time (using an administration window)
- Simple integration into present networks and application software
- Precise format output from DIN A4 to A0
- 100% toner efficiency: the modern contact toner technology prevents the production of residual toner - an essential feature for the most economic operation of the WDV ARTIST 8800-X
- Numerous finishing options
The latest design of the WDV ARTIST 8800 plotter is based on a MINI-ATX motherboard (x86) running Windows CE 4.2. The plotter receives plot-data from the Internet using an Ethernet connector or from local sources using a USB connector. The board controlling the engine is a PCI controller based on PLX9054. The USB controller is located on the PCI board using a separate CPU, and the data is being sent via PLX9054 DMA to the x86 processor. WinDriver was used for writing a Windows CE.NET driver for this PCI board which manages the data sent to the engine (setup information and image) and reads the status information received back from the engine. "My experience with using WinDriver CE for PCI devices was very good, it simplified the whole process of writing the driver and communicating with the hardware. Jungo's support team was very responsive and helpful and we will gladly consider using WinDriver USB for our next possible USB project." Said Peter Tichy, Head of the designing department at WDV.

Jungo's WinDriver™ automates and simplifies the development of user-mode device drivers and applications for USB / PCI / CardBus / ISA / PCMCIA / PMC / PCI-X and CompactPCI under Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP/XP Embedded/Server 2003, Windows CE, Linux, Solaris and VxWorks.
WinDriver provides a complete solution for creating high performance drivers and custom hardware access applications, thereby enabling developers to focus on their driver's added-value functionality, instead of on operating system internals and the DDK.
Enhanced Built-in support is available for Actel, Altera, Atmel, CATC, Cypress, National Semiconductor, PLDA, PLX, QuickLogic, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments and Xilinx.
