Ultrasonix

Ultrasonix Medical Corporation is a Canadian company that develops and manufactures ultrasound devices for clinical and research purposes.

While the company has a wide clinical footprint, ranging from anesthesia to pathology, it has a specific focus on point-of-care devices for medical procedures in emerging markets.

Ultrasonix was founded in 2000 and acquired by Analogic in March 2013.

WinDriver™

Ultrasonix uses Jungo’s WinDriver PCI solution for its innovative SonixTouch and SonixTablet ultrasound platforms, which use the Windows XP Embedded operating system.
It plans to release products using WinDriver’s PCIe and USB solutions in the Windows 7 environment in the near future.
All the products are used in the medical environment by doctors.

WinDriver is a market-leading driver development toolkit for the rapid design of high-performance, high-quality user-mode device drivers. USB, PCI or PCI-Express drivers developed with WinDriver, support any device, regardless of silicon vendor.

The Result

Using Jungo’s WinDriver PCI solution, Unltrasonix was able to communicate with its devices within one week of implementing WinDriver.

“We used the reference samples available from the WinDriver toolkit and had no difficulty implementing our design requirements with the WinDriver API calls,: says Kris Dickie.”We also made use of the WinDriver technical documentation, which we found to be extremely helpful.”
