Using GO HotSwap - Jungo's new revolutionary product - CompactPCI
vendors can now add "HotSwap" capabilities to their hardware on Windows,
Linux, Solaris and VxWorks operating systems, where these capabilities were
previously unavailable.
Santa Clara, Calif. - May 24th, 2000: - Jungo Ltd. (formerly KRFTech)
announced today the release of it GO Hot-Swap tools, which include a revolutionary operating
system extension and driver development toolkit, that enable HotSwap support
on all major operating systems. Using these tools, hardware vendors can now
implement the CompactPCI Hot-Swap capabilities on Windows 9x, 2000, NT, NT-
Embedded, CE, Linux, Solaris and VxWorks operating systems.
CompactPCI is a high performance bus, based on the standard PCI electrical
specification, which includes the Hot-Swap facility i.e. it enables insertion
and removal of CompactPCI cards into a CompactPCI based back plane, while the
system is running. This feature reduces the system downtime, which may be
critical for markets such as telecommunication infrastructure, high speed data
communication and industrial control markets.
The lack of ready to use HotSwap capabilities in most of the major
operating systems (such as Windows and Solaris) forced hardware vendors, as
well as CompactPCI power users, who wanted to implement Hot-Swap features, to
use or develop proprietary operating systems. This situation was a major time
and resources consumer.
Now Jungo's GO HotSwap solved the situation, for it enables immediate
implementation of HotSwap capabilities on all major operating systems.
Jungo introduces three deployment methods that enable Hot-Swap capabilities
to Compact PCI devices:
- GO Hot-Swap Development Toolkit - This product is designed for
CompactPCI hardware vendors. It enables development of fully "hot swappable"
CompactPCI device drivers from scratch, with advanced graphical tools and
Wizards for hardware diagnostics and automatic driver code
generation/debugging.
- GO Hot-Swap Agent - This product is designed for system integrators.
It enables system integrators to add Hot-Swap capabilities to existing
CompactPCI hardware, without any change to its existing PCI drivers.
- GO Hot-Swap OS Extender - This product is designed for system board
vendors or operating system vendors. The CompactPCI OS extension enables system
board or OS vendors to immediately add Hot-Swap capabilities under any OS.
All of these tools provide CompactPCI Hot-Swap capabilities, where these
capabilities were previously unavailable.
"Jungo's new solutions enable new markets for hardware vendors who
currently cannot offer 'HotSwap' capabilities to their customers" - said
Ofer Vilenski, president of Jungo Ltd. "These solutions also open up new
markets for the operating system vendors, who can now offer 'HotSwap' support
on their operating systems, thereby enabling them to enter the mission-critical
markets such as the telecommunication infrastructure and high speed data
communication systems markets."
Benefits:
- Immediate Hot-Swap capabilities - Within a record time implementation
process, you can enable Hot-Swap capabilities for Windows 2000, NT, NT
Embedded, 9x, CE, Linux, Solaris and VxWorks.
- Multi Platform - The GO HotSwap OS agent/extension supports Windows 2000,
NT, NT Embedded, 9x, CE, Linux, Solaris, and VxWorks.
- Cross platform - Same Hot-Swap driver written with the GO Hot-Swap
development toolkit runs on Windows 2000, NT, NT Embedded, 9x, CE, Linux,
Solaris, and VxWorks.
Availability:
A free full-featured evaluation version of the Hot-Swap
Tools will be available for download from the Jungo web site at www.jungo.com/dnload.html. The current Go Hot-Swap version
supports Windows 2000, NT . Support for Linux, Solaris and
VxWorks will be introduced shortly.
