- Solution to be demonstrated at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona
SAN JOSE, CA, February 21, 2011 - Jungo Ltd, a leading provider of embedded, software connectivity solutions, has announced the immediate availability of support for the new Mobile Broadband Interface Model (MBIM) specification Published by the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) in November 2011, the MBIM V1.0 specification is a USB-based protocol for host and device connectivity for desktops, laptops, tablets and mobile devices.
The specification supports multiple generations of GSM- and CDMA-based 3G and 4G packet data services, including the recent LTE technology. With support for multiple IP connections per single USB interface, CID and UUID command transfer, device-agnostic mobile broadband class drivers and a standard control protocol, in place of the ubiquitous but non-standard "AT" command set, MBIM facilitates high bandwidth connectivity for USB modem dongles, embedded USB modems and 3G routers.
The Jungo MBIM solution is based on USBware, the company's established embedded USB device stack, and DriverCore, its complete USB CDC solution of production-grade desktop driver stacks. The implementation includes support for both legacy and next-generation desktop operating systems including integration with Windows 7 and Windows 8 WWAN implementation of NDIS 6.2 and NDIS 6.30.
Jungo was an active participant in the development of MBIM, alongside platform silicon vendors (Qualcomm, Intel, ST-Ericsson), OEMs (Nokia, NEC Casio, Ericsson), and software vendors (Microsoft). "Jungo is excited to add the MBIM specification to its wide range of connectivity solutions," said Jungo Connectivity General Manager Ophir Herbst. "Our full MBIM stack will empower mobile broadband chipset manufacturers in delivering more and better functionality for consumers."
