December 6, 1999 (KRFTech, Israel): KRFTech released today version 4.20 of
WinDriver - the leading device driver development toolkit.
Version 4.20 includes new features which help the device driver developer get to
market even faster. Major new features include full support for Delphi, automatic
generation of .inf files (for Windows 98), and enhanced support for Altera PCI cores
and the new PLX IOP480 processor.
Delphi Support:
The DriverWizard now generates device driver code in Delphi as well as C/C++. This new
feature enables Delphi users to use the hardware specific API generated by the Driver
Wizard directly from their Delphi applications. "The Delphi code generation opens
WinDriver to a new group of developers, who use the popular Delphi as their software
development platform" said Ofer Vilenski, president of KRFTech.
.inf File Generation:
After writing the Plug-n-Play device driver, an .inf file must be written in order for
the operating system to identify the new driver for the hardware. Since sparse
documentation on .inf files exists, this has become a mostly 'cut and paste and
try-again' process. WinDriver now automates this task as well, providing yet another
chain in WinDriver's driver automation process.
