Jungo Releases WinDriver 8.11, Supporting PowerPC 64-bit & Agere's USS2828 USB Chip

Dear Developer,

The Jungo Connectivity Software Newsletter keeps you updated with information on driver development, embedded USB software stacks and wide range of USB testing tools.

In this issue:
Jungo Releases WinDriver 8.11, Supporting PowerPC 64-bit & Agere's USS2828 USB Chip Earlier this month, Jungo announced a new release of WinDriver, its USB/PCI driver and firmware development toolkits, supporting Windows (2000/XP/Server2003/Vista), Windows CE, Linux and Solaris. WinDriver version 8.11 now supports PowerPC 64-bit architectures on Linux 2.6.x Kernels.

Jungo Releases Updated DFU Function Driver As part of its USBware (embedded USB software stack) product line, Jungo has released an updated version of the DFU ("Device Firmware Upgrade") Function Driver. Designed to reside on top of Jungo's USB Device Stacks, the DFU function driver includes support for the USB-IF Device Firmware Upgrade Class.

DFU defines and provides a generic mechanism for firmware upgrades, allowing device manufactures to offer an application supporting firmware upgrades from the PC to the embedded device. This functionality considerably increases the life of the product and ensures end users can easily upgrade the device's firmware.

The DFU protocol defines an upgrade session involving multiple states, which are used for synchronization between the host and the device to insure data integrity and a successful upgrade.

DFU fully supports composite devices, ensuring the end user can begin the upgrade session during standard connection. The session includes: rebooting of the embedded device, download of new firmware, and re-enumeration of the device with the updated firmware.

As a completing product Jungo offers a DFU Windows Class Driver developed using Jungo's WinDriver USB driver development kit. The DFU class driver allows quick implementation of a matching host DFU application meeting any custom requirements. The application includes all required low-level USB functionality and exposes a full set of user level APIs.
