WinDriver for OS/2 Beta Version
April 2nd, 2000 (KRFTech, Israel): KRFTech today
announced the release of WinDriver OS/2 Beta version. WinDriver for
OS/2 simplifies and tremendously speeds up OS/2 device
driver development by freeing the developer from the need
to master the OS/2 Kernel and the driver development
details. Using WinDriver, developing drivers for the OS/2
platform now takes hours instead of months. WinDriver for
OS/2 supports the PCI and ISA busses, and offers enhanced
Support for the leading PCI chip-set vendors (PLX, Marvell,
Altera and AMCC).
Compatibility:
WinDriver for OS/2 is fully compatible to all other
WinDriver versions. Thus - driver code created on one of
the supported platforms will run on any other platform that
WinDriver supports (Currently - Win98/NT/2000/CE, Linux,
Solaris and VxWorks). Using WinDriver, a developer can
maintain the same code base between different operating
systems. This makes WinDriver a revolutionary cross
platform device driver development toolkit.
Simplicity:
WinDriver for OS/2 enables the developer to create all of
the driver code in the application level with a simple
C/C++ API.
Benefits:
- No 16bit programming necessary.
- No Assembler code needed.
- Work with a simple documented API.
- Work with any 32bit compiler.
- Direct access to your hardware from your application in
user-mode, maintaining kernel mode performance.
- Hardware access applications you create with WinDriver
will run on Windows 98, NT/2000, Windows CE, NT
Embedded, Linux, Solaris, VxWorks and OS/2.
- Support for DMA (contiguous), Plug and play, multiple
board, multiple bus and multiple CPU handling.
- Use WinDriver to write drivers for all common PC buses
including PCI/cPCI/ISA/ISA PnP/EISA. No need to use several
different tools and learn new APIs to access different
types of Buses.
Availability:
A free full featured evaluation version of WinDriver for
OS/2 is available for download from the KRFTech web site at
www.krftech.com/dnload.html. The release
version of WinDriver for OS/2 is expected to be released in
May-2000.
