SAN JOSE, CA - October 26, 2005
Jungo Software Technologies Inc., a leading provider of
USB/PCI software solutions, and
Microchip Technology Inc. [NASDAQ: MCHP], a leading provider of
microcontroller and analog semiconductors, today announced a new
collaboration to include Jungo’s WinDriver™
driver and firmware development toolkit with Microchip’s
PIC18F4550 development boards, including the PICDEM FS-USB board
(part # DM163025).
The PIC18F4550 Flash PIC® microcontrollers feature Full-Speed USB 2.0 connectivity and 48 megahertz (MHz) operation, for 12 megabits-per-second (Mbps) data-transfer rates. In combination with a wide variety of on-chip peripherals and nanoWatt Technology power management, these features provide a complete embedded-control solution for designers working with USB in industrial, consumer and many other embedded applications.
Jungo’s WinDriver™ product family offers two powerful toolkits designed to facilitate the development of high-performance and top-quality USB device drivers and device firmware for PIC18F4550-based designs. WinDriver™ enables the development of user-mode device drivers that are code-compatible across Windows, Windows CE and Linux, supporting various architectural configurations. WinDriver USB Device™ generated firmware handles the standard USB protocol (chapter nine) and supports the development of multiple interfaces and alternate settings in firmware code. Both tools are designed to enable immediate hardware access and automatic driver and firmware code generation, according to a desired USB device configuration. The code generated complies with the Windows Hardware Quality Laboratories (WHQL) certification and can be distributed without run-time royalties.
“Jungo’s WinDriver software provides an excellent addition to Microchip’s existing USB development kits at no extra cost to our customers,” said Kobus Marneweck, marketing manager for Microchip’s Advanced Microcontroller Architecture Division. “This collaboration with one of the world’s leading suppliers of USB development tools will help speed our customers’ time to market.”
"By collaborating with Microchip, the leading provider of 8-bit microcontrollers, Jungo further reinforces its leadership position as a complete USB software vendor. This joint effort between two USB hardware and software market leaders provides engineers with a complete, end-to-end development environment for their next embedded USB design," said Omry Ben David, marketing manager for Jungo's Software Tools Division. "Using WinDriver and the technical software support that accompanies it, Microchip customers will gain a competitive edge by achieving successful design-wins while shortening time to market and reducing development costs.”
