Featuring Universal Plug and Play, USB Host and USB Remote NDIS Software Stacks, Jungo's newest product line enables implementation of connectivity technologies for embedded devices
Sunnyvale, California, June 17th, 2002- Jungo Software Technologies Inc., a leading provider of driver development toolkits and residential gateway software, today announced the launch of its Embedded USB Software product line. The product line includes Universal Plug and Play, USB Host and USB Remote NDIS software stacks enabling device manufacturers to keep pace with today's expanding network requirements for device connectivity and interoperability.
By providing high quality, small footprint drivers and protocol stacks and interfaces, Jungo's Embedded USB Software facilitate device manufacturers in quickly and easily incorporating the hottest connectivity protocols - Universal Plug and Play, USB Host and USB Remote NDIS functionality - into their embedded products.
"Jungo continues to demonstrate its leadership as an embedded software solutions provider with the launch of its Embedded USB Software," said Ophir Herbst, general manager, Software Tools Division at Jungo. "As a member of relevant forums, Jungo is committed to maintaining compliance and up-to-date features of its newest product line and intends to broaden its software components' product line to support emerging market technologies."
Universal Plug and Play Stack
UPnP is a technology designed to support zero-configuration, "invisible" networking, and automatic discovery of networked devices and services, such as network-attached printers, Internet gateways, and consumer electronics equipment. With UPnP, a device can dynamically join a network, convey its capabilities and learn about the presence and capabilities of other devices.
The latest versions of Windows support UPnP. However, devices (such as Internet gateways) that are required to communicate with other devices on the network via UPnP require a Universal Plug and Play stack as part of their firmware.
Jungo's Universal Plug and Play Stack complies with the Universal Plug and Play 1.0 specification and provides Universal Plug and Play device architecture compliant APIs. The stack supports Linux, Embedded Linux and VxWorks operating systems, including embedded HTTP/U/MU server/client and XML parser. Using Jungo's Universal Plug and Play Stack, vendors can easily make their devices Universal Plug and Play compliant, allowing interoperability with other Universal Plug and Play compliant devices.
As a member of the UPnP Forum, Jungo is committed to constantly maintaining certification and up-to-date features of its Universal Plug and Play Stack.
USB Host Stack
USB provides an expandable, hot-pluggable Plug and Play serial interface that ensures a standard, low-cost connection for peripheral devices such as keyboards, mice, joysticks, printers, scanners, storage devices, modems, and video conferencing cameras.
USB is supported by the latest Windows operating systems, and by Linux. Other operating systems or firmware that need USB support require a dedicated USB stack.
Jungo provides a complete, small footprint, high quality Universal Serial Bus (USB) stack under Windows NT, Linux and Embedded Linux operating systems, including interfaces that enable software and device manufacturers to incorporate standard USB connectivity in either their host or peripheral products. Jungo's USB Host Stack, compliant with the USB 1.1 specification, supports Full speed and Low speed, with High-speed support available upon request. Control, Bulk, Interrupt and Isochronous data transfers are supported.
USB Remote NDIS Stack
Remote NDIS is a Windows architecture that natively supports network devices on dynamic external Plug and Play buses such as USB and Fire-wire. Since this Remote NDIS interface is standardized, one set of host drivers can support any number of bus-attached networking devices independent of vendor or bus type.
Despite the fact that remote NDIS has become a standard component of the latest Windows operating systems, peripheral devices require drivers that support this technology.
To implement Remote NDIS on peripheral devices, Jungo provides a USB Remote NDIS slave stack, which can be easily embedded into the network device firmware by the device manufacturer. The stack supports the Remote NDIS Specification revision 1.0 under Linux, Embedded Linux and VxWorks 5.4 operating systems.
