GoAhead Software Expands Integration Alliance

Six New Members Help Improve Levels of Reliability in Communications Infrastructure

Bellevue, Wash., September 18, 2001 - GoAhead® Software, the leader in communications reliability solutions, today announced the addition of five key companies to its GoAhead® Integration Alliance (GIA). The additions of I-Bus/Phoenix, Jungo Software Technologies Inc., Kontron Communications Inc., OSE Systems, Solid, and SBS Technologies will help to further promote the GIA's goal to develop and advance service availability solutions for communications infrastructure.

Communications companies are facing an increased demand to migrate to Next Generation Network (NGN) technologies quickly, while maintaining even better levels of reliability. Service availability middleware addresses this need by going beyond traditional high availability solutions to provide always-on services and connections that are maintained without disruption - regardless of any internal system faults or failures. Recognizing that improving reliability requires the cooperation and commitment of several companies, the GIA's mission is to tightly integrate service availability middleware with computing platforms, operating systems, boards and applications to enable the highest levels of system availability. GoAhead works with GIA members to ensure that they are able to seamlessly deploy service availability solutions such as the GoAhead SelfReliant product line to provide the always-on, uninterrupted service consumers demand.

"Service availability is instrumental to minimizing downtime within communications infrastructure and the growth of the GIA is a testament to the demand for new standards in reliability and availability," said Michael O'Brien, CEO for GoAhead. "The GIA's efforts will further the incorporation of service availability to the entire communications market by making it easier for manufacturers to implement off-the-shelf service availability solutions."

GoAhead service availability software is an off-the-shelf, cross platform and extensible reliability solution for communications infrastructure. It monitors and manages all system resources such as hardware, software, operating system and applications in real time, identifying faults and initiating user-defined recovery actions - enabling a device to take care of itself. With the incorporation of service availability software, manufacturers are able to accelerate time-to-market while reducing equipment and support costs.

To promote the benefits of service availability software and initiate collaboration between industry leaders, GoAhead held the first annual GIA Summit in April 2001. Sessions included discussions on the vision for the future, development and implementation mechanisms, industry growth and analysis as well as the migration to the NGN. Key participation included guest panelists from Nokia Networks and AT&T Wireless as well as an audience of over 20 companies.

The most recent addition increases the Alliance to 19 member companies including Consystant Design Technologies, Inc., Force Computers, Intel Corporation, Interphase Corporation (NASDAQ: INPH), LynuxWorks, Inc., MontaVista Software, Inc., Motorola Computer Group (NYSE: MOT), Natural MicroSystems (NASDAQ: NMSS), QNX Software Systems Ltd., RadiSys Corporation (NASDAQ: RSYS), TimeSys Corporation, Trillium Digital Systems (an Intel company), Wind River Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: WIND) and Ziatech Corporation.
