WinDriver for Solaris released23-Dec-99 - KRFTech announces the availability of WinDriver for the Solaris
operating system. KRFTech today announced the release of the official version of WinDriver for the Solaris operating system. Using WinDriver for Solaris, device driver developers can now write Solaris device drivers in just a few days, instead of months. Existing WinDriver customers can port their existing WinDriver based drivers to Solaris simply by re-compiling their existing driver code. "One of Sun's key initiatives is to support and recognize the importance of the ISV community who are developing solutions for the Solaris Operating Environment," said Jeff Bernard, director of Solaris marketing, Sun Microsystems. WinDriver for Solaris joins the other WinDriver tools currently supporting Windows NT®, Windows® 2000, Windows® 98, Windows CE®, Linux and OS/2. This powerful feature makes WinDriver a standard driver development tool for all major operating systems. No need to learn different kernel development tools and different operating systems architectures in order to write drivers in several operating systems. WinDriver for Solaris supports the Intel platform in Solaris version 2.6 and 7.0. SPARC platform is supported in Solaris 7.0. WinDriver for Solaris saves you the need to learn the Solaris kernel architecture and Sun's DDI/DKI API (Device Driver Interface / Driver Kernel Interface). WinDriver keeps all development in user-mode thus eliminating the need for special kernel mode development knowledge. You may access your target's memory directly from the user-mode - thus achieve optimal performance, with user-mode ease of use. Solaris developers can now write their entire driver code in just a day or two instead of months and have it run on any supported operating system.
