Demonstrates OpenRG to Leading Broadband Chipset and System Vendors

Sunnyvale CA, 1 November 2000, Jungo Software Technologies has successfully demonstrated OpenRG - an open, comprehensive and scalable software solution for broadband residential gateways. The solution was demonstrated to leading system and chipset vendors running on X86 and PPC embedded platforms. OpenRG is a complete software infrastructure, including drivers, operating system, and applications, geared to enable broadband services in the home environment.

Features demonstrated:

  • VoIP: A regular telephone device connected to the CPE (customer premises equipment) performing phone calls to other PCs using an IP number and to regular telephones using a PSTN gateway
  • Bluetooth: Web browsing using a web pad connected to the CPE via Bluetooth.
  • Security: Various firewall capabilities including enabling and disabling voice, Telnet and FTP from the Internet to the CPE while maintaining connection from the CPE to the Internet.
  • Remote management: Web based, management capabilities including firewall settings and activating and deactivating of different applications.
  • Bridging: Internet Protocol support: TCP, UDP and ICMP interfaces
  • Automatic configuration: DHCP server and client
  • Other: HTTP server, DNS, FTP, TFTP and TELNET servers
OpenRG has also been integrated into a cable modem and is currently being integrated into a DSL modem.
Next versions will support StrongARM and MIPS processors as well as HomeRF, 802.11b, HomePNA, Quality of Service, Set-top functionality support and more.

New and future applications will be easily adopted due to the standards based design while vendor's legacy modules can be easily ported to Jungo's platform using Jungo's porting automation tools.
