Jungo Introduces OpenRG CableHome™-Based Solution Designed Specifically for Texas Instruments' DOCSIS™ Hardware and Software Platform

Dallas and San Jose, Calif., December 11, 2002 Cable modem manufacturers can smoothly integrate a range of standards-based, manageable and secure home networking applications into cable modem designs, based upon silicon and software from Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) and a new CableHome™-based residential gateway software solution from Jungo Software Technologies, a leading provider of residential gateway software. Products based on the combined TI and Jungo solution will enable multiple system operators (MSOs) to deploy value added services such as secure broadband access, Internet and resource sharing, plug and play networking and local and remote web-based management.

The solution, available today on TI's development platform, integrates Jungo's CableHome-based OpenRG residential gateway software with TI's cable modem/wireless LAN residential gateway design. Jungo's CableHome-based solution was developed and rigorously tested on the TI platform and provides DOCSIS-based customer premise equipment (CPE) developers with a highly integrated development platform for embedded CableHome-based devices.

"As a leader in residential gateway software and the emerging CableHome device market, Jungo developed its OpenRG software for TI's chipset because of TI's leadership in the DOCSIS market," said Ofer Vilenski, CEO of Jungo. "This joint effort by TI and Jungo will generate additional revenue opportunities for appliance manufacturers and MSOs thanks to the deployment of a wide range of broadband services over cable in both residential and SOHO markets."

TI offers a complete hardware and software solution enabling fast time to market. With the integration of Jungo's OpenRG software suite, TI and Jungo are able to further reduce product development time by providing CPE manufacturers with a robust "off-the-shelf" hardware and software solution that can be easily customized. In addition, TI's and Jungo's world-class technical support and training help manufacturers quickly deliver high quality products, resulting in faster time-to-profit.

"Jungo's OpenRG residential gateway software combined with TI's home gateway reference design provides customers with a highly integrated CableHome-based hardware and software solution," said Dr. Dennis Rauschmayer, director of marketing for TI's cable broadband communications group. "Jungo's platform, designed for TI's cable modem solutions, enables manufacturers to consistently deploy secure, standards-based, differentiated products based on TI's 'field-hardened' software and hardware."

Evaluation copies of the TI-Jungo CableHome-based embedded software solution are available today.
