Jungo Receives ICSA Labs' Firewall 4.0 Certification

December 17, 2002
OpenRG™ Residential Gateway Software Independently Verified in Industry's Most Stringent Security Tests
San Jose, Calif., December 17, 2002 Jungo Software Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of residential gateway software, today announced that OpenRG has been certified by ICSA Labs®, an independent division of TruSecure Corporation® and the industry's standards body for certifying network security products. The OpenRG residential gateway firewall met the ICSA Labs' stringent network security tests by passing the first certification criteria designed to protect the networks of residential users.

The OpenRG firewall provides a professional level of network security with the flexibility required to meet the unique needs of residential and SOHO users. OpenRG offers predefined security policies and enables interactive applications such as gaming, chat and video conferencing. Additional features such as surfing restrictions and access control can also be easily configured locally by the user, through a user-friendly web interface, or remotely by a service provider using SNMP.

"We congratulate Jungo on their impressive achievement in reaching ICSA Labs' certification in the first round of the Firewall 4.0 Criteria," said Brian Monkman, firewall program manager at ICSA Labs. "Broadband access device manufacturers that choose Jungo's OpenRG will benefit from a robust software platform that has been proven to provide the necessary network security for residential environments."

In addition to a wide range of home networking features, OpenRG includes Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI), Network Address Translation (NAT), Denial of Service (DoS) prevention, support for CableHome-based remote configuration, Application Level Gateways (ALGs), DMZ host, parental control, hosting of local servers, comprehensive event logging, and a web-based management interface.

"As broadband access providers and users become more aware of the security risks involved in exposing home networks through an 'always-on' broadband access device, the industry must provide solutions that offer total protection from unauthorized users without compromising system performance," said Udi Yuhjtman, vice president of operations and business development at Jungo. "The ICSA certification awarded to Jungo represents a formal acknowledgment that our firewall meets the highest industry standards and provides our customers with the level of assurance they demand."
