Core Networks and Jungo Introduce CableHome-Based Solution

CoreEnsemble OSS and OpenRG's Residential Gateway Software Pair to Enable Rapid Deployment of Home Networking Services

Halifax, Nova Scotia and San Jose, Calif., Feb. 18, 2003Core Networks, a global leader in cable Operational Support System (OSS) solutions and Jungo Software Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of residential gateway software, today announced the introduction of an interoperable CableHome™-based software solution that allows Multiple System Operators (MSOs) to manage advanced home networking services over Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS™) networks.

To formalize their relationship, Jungo will join Core Networks' recently announced CoreDuet™ partner program, which is designed to enhance cooperation between Core Networks and CableHome-based device and software manufacturers.

"Home networking services add further complexity to the MSO network and subscriber support functions. Operators need a streamlined, integrated system to deliver and manage these services in a profitable way," said Michael Harris, president of industry research firm Kinetic Strategies, Inc.

The joint solution is based on pairing CoreEnsemble™, Core Networks' home networking device management solution, with Jungo's OpenRG™, a complete residential gateway software platform for CableHome-based devices.

CoreEnsemble is designed to intelligently gather, store, analyze, and visualize home access device and back-office information for prompt service assurance and incident resolution. It provides powerful inventory, provisioning, and monitoring tools for call center and operations staff to efficiently manage and support networked home subscribers.

OpenRG, already designed into a number of CableHome-based residential and SOHO gateways, provides customer premise equipment (CPE) vendors with the software infrastructure to power broadband CPE, and delivers plug and play home networking, network security (Stateful Packet Inspection firewall), Virtual Private Networking (VPN), and remote management and upgrade capabilities.

By deploying OpenRG-powered gateways on a DOCSIS network managed by CoreEnsemble, MSOs will more quickly deploy home networking services and reduce the costs and complexity of Service Operations integration.

"By delivering a fully interoperable end-to-end CableHome-based solution to the market, Jungo and Core Networks are allowing MSOs to move forward with the deployment of managed home networking services and generate new revenue streams from their subscribers," said Udi Yuhjtman, Jungo's vice president of business development. "Today's announcement is also good news for CPE vendors since it shows that OpenRG-powered gateways are interoperable and ready to be managed by CableHome-based OSS systems such as CoreEnsemble."

"Working with CPE software vendors such as Jungo for end-to-end CableHome-based software solutions provides significant operational cost savings, value-added service opportunities and time to market benefits for MSOs," said Ian Parrott, Core Networks' director of product management. "We look forward to extending our lead in the home networking OSS market in cooperation with Jungo's expertise and experience in CPE software."
