Toshiba Selects Jungo's Software
Toshiba first to integrate Jungo's Software in embedded DOCSIS® modem to speed provisioning process for MSOs deploying home networking services
SCTE Cable-Tec Expo, May 12, 2003Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Network Products Division (TAIS NPD) and Jungo Software Technologies, a leading provider of residential gateway software, today announced that Toshiba is the first major cable modem manufacturer to embed Jungo's CableHome-based OpenRG residential gateway software into a wireless cable modem router.
Jungo's OpenRG software is embedded into Toshiba's PCX4500 Wireless Cable Modem Router, a CableHome-based, DOCSIS®-certified cable modem with an internal 802.11b wireless router and Stateful Inspection firewall. The software provides plug and play home networking services that can be remotely managed and provisioned by multiple systems operators (MSOs).
"Jungo's CableHome-based software provides a state-of-the-art solution for our new wireless cable modem routers," said Fred Berry, vice president, general manager of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Network Products Division. "Because our PCX4500 is the only cable modem base product in the industry to include this integrated software, MSOs that deploy the unit will significantly reduce provisioning time and service calls as they rollout new home networking services."
Toshiba says the units containing the Jungo software platform will begin shipping in Q3 2003. Toshiba's line of PCX cable broadband devices is available through service provider partnerships, various national retail chains, and online at www shoptoshiba.com.
"Toshiba's market leading cable modems with Jungo's CableHome-based
software, will enable MSOs to generate new revenues in the fast growing broadband market, by bringing new services to their customers," said Ofer Vilenski, CEO of
Jungo Software Technologies. "We look forward to seeing deployments of the new wireless cable modem routers soon and to expanding our partnership with Toshiba to bring additional broadband services to the market in the future."
Toshiba's PCX4500 Wireless Cable Modem Router offers MSOs and consumers a Toshiba cable modem with single Ethernet and USB ports, an 802.11b router for wireless networking and a Stateful Inspection firewall all in one unit.
Jungo's OpenRG is a complete set of software technologies for residential gateway manufacturers that enables the delivery of advanced broadband services and simplifies networking for broadband users and service providers.
