AudioCodes Introduces a VoIP Chip for Analog Telephone Adapters
The Tulip AC494 ATA chip and reference design, integrated with Jungo’s
OpenRG software platform, provides OEMs with a
cost-effective, production-ready design for VoIP telephone adapters

AudioCodes (NASDAQ: AUDC), a leading

release of a new VoIP chip with fully integrated software and hardware reference
design called Tulip AC494 ATA, targeted at Original
Equipment Manufacturer’s (OEMs) and Original Design
Manufacturer’s (ODMs), designers of Analog Telephony
Adapters (ATAs) and Broadband Access devices (xDSL, cable,
wireless, FTTH) seeking to add VoIP capabilities to their
products. The Tulip AC494 ATA allows vendors to effectively improve their
time-to-market, while minimizing their development
risk, by utilizing AudioCodes’ and Jungo’s significant
experience in voice and data applications and Legerity's versatile VE880 VoicePort
TM
series.
The Tulip AC494 ATA fulfills a strong demand for a full,
low-cost VoIP solution in the residential and SOHO markets. In
its basic configuration it integrates two 10/100 baseT Ethernet
ports and one to four VoIP ports, with two FXS analog interfaces.
The Tulip AC494 ATA can also support various configurations of
FXS and FXO ports, optimized for the customer’s need, using pin and software compatible devices
from Legerity's VE880 VoicePort TM
series.
This “ready-to-go” small footprint module ensures easy
deployment into vendor systems. It can be specifically tailored
to customer requirements by utilizing Jungo’s flexible and
configurable software. The combination of AudioCodes’ and
Jungo’s capabilities enables a powerful entry into the
marketplace.

popular VoIP signaling protocols such as SIP, H.323 and MGCP.
Basic vocoders such as G.711/G.723/G.729, advanced wide band
vocoders such as G.722.2 and packet loss robust vocoders such as
iLBC can be used to provide superior voice quality. Advanced call
control functions such as transfer, call waiting, hold and 3-way
conferencing are also supported. Basic data switching or advanced
