Jungo's Release 4.3 Ensures Carrier-Class IPTV By Optimizing Quality of Service, Visibility and Control in the Home Network
Jungo's IPTV Enabling Platform Now Deployed in Volume by One of The Largest U.S. Service Providers
SAN JOSE, Calif., July 11, 2006
Jungo Ltd., a leading provider of Residential, and SMB gateway software
platforms released today a bundled set of
IPTV related features
focused on delivering the best customer viewing experience of IPTV
in the market. There are three parts of Jungo's new software
version that display strong differentiation: a stateful quality of
service mechanism, application level performance visibility and an
intuitive graphical user interface modified for remote problem
resolution. These features were defined in conjunction with Tier
One service providers from around the globe who increasingly
understand the pivotal role that the residential gateway serves in
their triple play designs. One Top 3 service provider in the U.S.
is now shipping Jungo-based CPE devices in volume across their high
speed-bandwidth footprint as a strong validation of Jungo's value
proposition for this important service application market.
The application aware stateful QoS mechanism is
a Jungo innovation that enables high quality video streams to be
protected against other applications with the most minimal of
configuration. Jungo's stateful QoS is coupled with granular
application level monitoring capabilities that allow the service
provider to have visibility into traffic patterns in the home and
to be alerted if there is any application on the network that might
be out of a normal usage profile. This feature helps the service
provider to be aware of the state of the digital home and to advise
the consumer of adjustments that can be made to have a finely tuned
set of digital entertainment services. Lastly problem remediation
is dramatically improved by Jungo's optimization of a new GUI
around quick problem identification and resolution. Through
feedback from service providers with vast operational experience in
supporting millions of broadband subscribers the new GUI allows
problems to be prominently displayed and network operations
employees to be quickly directed to the right parameters to be
modified to address a given issue.
"Jungo was the first vendor in the market to
see the strategic role the gateway plays in maintaining the quality
of the triple play service experience. This latest release is just
further proof that we continue to innovate to help our customers
drive the maximum value out of their IPTV investments;"
remarked David Messina, Jungo's VP of Product Management.
In addition to its general software
differentiators for IPTV services, Jungo's OpenRG is a uniquely
flexible platform, which is of paramount importance when dealing
with large service providers and their unique requirements. For
example there are a number of regionalized views on how to best
deliver Hi-Definition video networked content in the home. In
North America HPNVAv3 and MOCA are leading solutions leveraging
existing in-home cabling, whereas in Europe PLC and WiFi might be
the best solutions. Jungo supports all these LAN technologies and
can support carrier specific silicon vendor selections with a
minimal amount of effort.
