Ikanos And Jungo Announce VDSL2 Residential Gateway Joint Reference Platform

Fusiv® Network Processor and OpenRG Software Platform Enable OEMs to Deliver Telco-Ready Service Gateways

Fremont, Calif., and San Jose, Calif., January 29, 2007

Ikanos Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: IKAN), a leading developer and provider of Fiber Fast™ broadband solutions, and Jungo Ltd., a leading provider of broadband gateway middleware, today introduced a joint Residential Gateway (RG) reference platform to enable triple play offerings from broadband service providers. The new VDSL2 residential gateway platform – which is backward compatible with ADSL2/2+ and VDSL1 – is designed to deliver the flexibility and performance service providers need to offer revenue-generating services.
The VDSL2 residential gateway reference platform merges the power of Jungo’s OpenRG gateway software platform with Ikanos’ Fusiv® processor. The platform delivers industry-leading 100 Mbps symmetrical throughput utilizing the underlying Fusiv architecture with the Fx™100100S-5. Support is also available for the Fx10050S-5 chipset. The joint reference platform is designed to support a number of applications, including VDSL2, ADSL2+, Internet Protocol television (IPTV), home media distribution, home networking, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Wireless Local Area Networking (WLAN), Ethernet switching, data routing, NAT, firewall and TR-069 remote management support.

”By combining the power of Jungo’s market–leading OpenRG software with our powerful VDSL2 residential gateway platform, we are delivering a complete triple play solution,” said Dean Westman, vice president and general manager of Ikanos’ Gateway Products Group. “This new, production-ready platform is designed to enable OEMs and ODMs worldwide to quickly meet service provider requirements for offering advanced voice, video and data services.”

“Jungo’s OpenRG software, in combination with the distributed architecture of Fusiv, enables OEMs to provide a fully functional residential gateway over which operators provide multiple services to their residential and small business customers,” said Ofer Vilenski, CEO of Jungo. “This combined, production-ready solution emphasizes both companies’ commitment to provide our customers with cutting-edge technology and solutions.”

The residential and small business broadband service gateway market is rapidly accelerating, with shipments slated to top $1 billion by 2009, according to the Yankee Group.

OpenRG speeds development of these gateways with a modular architecture that includes application programming interfaces (APIs) for a wide range of popular services and functions, including IPTV, home media distribution, WLAN, firewall, VoIP, IP-Private Branch Exchange (IP-PBX), remote file access and parental control. This robust functionality gives gateway manufacturers unrivaled flexibility for rapidly developing market-specific products.

The Fusiv processor supports OpenRG’s design flexibility with wire-speed packet processing and programmable accelerator processors that offload the main processor. By doing so, it provides a scalable solution to meet increasing processing demands from the residential gateway and it easily supports multi-service delivery of services at speeds of 100 Mbps or more.
