Tel Aviv, Israel, Sep 12th, 2013 – Jungo Connectivity Ltd., a leading provider of connectivity and multimedia software solutions, today announced a joint initiative with Mentor Graphics to integrate Jungo ’s MediaCore middleware with the Mentor® Embedded Automotive Technology Platform. Both Jungo’s middleware and Mentor Embedded’s platform are already running in dozens of production vehicles on the road.
Both Mentor Graphics and Jungo Connectivity are active members of GENIVI®, the non-profit industry alliance committed to driving the broad adoption of an In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) open-source development platform. The integration of MediaCore, Jungo’s best-in-class automotive middleware, with the Mentor Embedded Automotive Technology Platform (ATP) embedded Linux product , will provide customers with a GENIVI-certified, pre-integrated solution. Mentor Graphics delivers a customizable GENIVI-compliant Linux solution, and Jungo Connectivity is compliant with the WwG (Works with GENIVI) program.
Jungo Connectivity’s MediaCore is all-inclusive, automotive- grade multimedia middleware for the rapid development of feature-rich, embedded multimedia players for IVI systems. Built from the ground up, MediaCore provides comprehensive multimedia management and playback functionality for audio and video media content, leveraging smartphone connectivity and cloud-based applications to enable a dynamic user experience.
Mentor Graphics recently acquired the automotive Linux -related assets from a major embedded software player establishing Mentor as the leading provider of Linux-based automotive IVI solutions. The Mentor Embedded platform and development tools are currently in production at three automotive OEMs, and an additional seven automotive Tier 1 suppliers are actively developing next-generation vehicles on the platform.
“This collaboration between Mentor Graphics and Jungo Connectivity is very good news for the IVI industry,” said Jungo Connectivity CEO Ophir Herbst. “It cements the standardization of Linux, which, with its pedigree in both consumer electronics and enterprise networking, is a natural fit for advanced IVI.”
“We foresee great potential by integrating Jungo Connectivity’s leading MediaCore middleware with the Mentor Embedded Automotive Technology Platform for Linux-based IVI development,” stated Scot Morrison, general manager of Embedded Runtime Solutions, Mentor Graphics Embedded Software Division. “As a result, our mutual customers will be able to develop dynamic multimedia applications for customized user experiences with greater ease and reliability.”
The integrated system will be demonstrated at the IESF in Detroit on September 19th, in Munich on October 24th and in Nagoya and Tokyo on September 25th and 27th respectively. The demonstration will include features such as playback and distribution of audio and video media files from various connected devices and over multiple connectivity protocols. Evaluation versions of the Jungo Connectivity software package on the Mentor platform will be available shortly for interested customers.
