Jungo Software Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of driver development tools and software solutions for broadband access, and National Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE: NSM), the leading provider of analog technology and information appliance solutions, today announced a strategic alliance to enable original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to quickly develop residential gateways.

National Semiconductor will distribute development platforms featuring National’s award winning Geode™ processor bundled with Jungo’s OpenRG software solution to OEMs for the evaluation and development of residential gateways.

“With many vendors promoting box solutions of similar features, Jungo’s OpenRG software can provide the differentiation that OEMs seek,” said Jeff Waters, Director of the Consumer Access Business Unit at National Semiconductor. “Jungo’s expertise in networking software and software development tools coupled with National’s development platform enables OEM’s to quickly create differentiated residential gateway products for their customers.”

Geode™ processor, featuring high performance and low power consumption, is specifically designed to power information appliances. Its x86 core leverages a variety of peripherals such as Ethernet, wireless cards andHard drives that are designed to use standard PC hardware interfaces such as PCI, USB and IDE.

“As the broadband access market burgeons, OEMs are facing fierce competition and therefore are looking for an out-of-the-box solution,” said Udi Yuhjtman, Vice President of Operations and Business Development for Jungo. “We are delighted to partner with National Semiconductor, a leader in the Information Appliances market, to jointly deliver a solution that will significantly reduce gateway and application development time for Integrated Access Device manufacturers, enabling them to offer value added services and applications to the broadband residential and small office market.”

Jungo’s OpenRG software design delivers a modular solution that includes a Linux-based operating system, drivers and communication stacks for varying network configurations, and revenue generating services such as ‘plug and play’ home networking, Stateful Inspection Firewall and Virtual Private Network (VPN). Remote management and provisioning capabilities, together with a robust development environment and open Application Program Interface (API), make OpenRG a highly scalable solution.
