Jungo Ltd., a leading provider of residential, SOHO and SMB gateway software introduced a production ready design based on the Intel® IXDPG425 reference platform and STMicroelectronics’ ST20190 ADSL 2+ chipset. The gateway design is targeted at OEMs and ODMs developing residential gateways that can offer the multi services promise of voice, data, and video all in one box. Telecom operators and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) deploying gateways based on the new design can increase revenue streams by offering new services such as VoIP, wireless home networking, VoD and IPTV, home media server, security and more.

The new reference design provides throughput of 24 Mbps required for Video and TV over DSL and multi channel Voice over IP. The 802.11 MIMO wireless enables wireless distribution of multimedia throughout the home and the USB 2.0 host provides easy connectivity to home media storage devices. Support for the DSL Forum’s TR-069 standard, ensures compatibility with any back-end management system and the advanced QoS mechanism enables quality control of the voice and video services. Based on field proven software and hardware platforms, the new design also offers advanced data security, VPN, universal plug and play, managed web and email filtering and a user friendly interface.

The new integrated Hardware/Software platform provides OEMs and Telecom operators with all the hardware, software and documentation information needed to easily bring to market high-performance, next generation multi service gateways. Jungo’s open software platform enables vendors and Telecom operators to create differentiated services and to continuously deploy new services with out the need to replace deployed gateways.

“OEMs and ODMs are looking for embedded solutions that can offer triple play, multi-service capabilities like voice, data, and video in a single platform” stated Giacomo Piccini, General Manager of the Wireline Infrastructure Division within ST’s Communication Infrastructure Group. “The adoption of our ST20190 chipset integrated with Jungo’s OpenRG software and running on Intel’s® IXDPG425 will address customer demand for interoperable and fully standards compliant ADSL2+ gateways that provide fast time to market with minimal development complexities and great flexibility in the functionality offer without compromising quality.”

The ST20190 chipset enables multi-standard and multi-service support of ADSL, including legacy systems, as well as ADSL2 and ADSL2+. Through supporting these standards, operators can deploy Reach-Extended (G.992.3 annex L) solutions to allow more customers to receive DSL services. DSL subscription services can be therefore customized to allow tiered service offerings for consumers and open the way for voice, video, and data to be offered over a single phone line.

“Intel designed the Intel® IXDPG425 Network Gateway Reference Platform to enable robust performance for converged access platforms featuring rich voice, data and security capabilities for applications ranging from the home to small business,” said Doug Davis vice president, Digital Enterprise Group and general manager, Communications Infrastructure Group, Intel Corporation. “When combined with Jungo’s extensive software portfolio optimized for the Intel® IXP42X product line, and with STMicroelectronics’ ADSL2+ Chipset, this platform offers superior time-to-market for Original Design Manufacturers and Original Equipment Manufacturers.”

“Jungo is committed to providing high standard software solution that serves the OEM and Telco markets, said Udi Yuhjtman, Jungo’s Vice President of Business Development. “By leveraging our proven gateway software platform with STMicroelectronics ADSL2+ chipset running on the Intel® IXP425 network processor, we are able to provide cost-effective system-level solutions for our customers.”
