New reference design features Jungo’s OpenRG software and Correlant’s TurboPort PCI cable modem

Sunnyvale, Calif., June 11, 2001

Jungo Software Technologies Inc. today announced a new cable modem-based reference design developed to help speed time-to-market for manufacturers of Integrated Access Devices (IADs) and residential gateway products.

The new reference design features Jungo’s OpenRG residential gateway software platform running with the TurboPort™ PCI cable modem from Correlant Communications. Both the software platform and cable modem run over the IntelliWAY™ broadband gateway hardware platform from Everex. The complete system is powered by National Semiconductor’s (NYSE: NSM) Geode™ processor.

The OpenRG software platform from Jungo provides Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) with a complete IAD/residential gateway reference design for cable-based broadband access devices, resulting in quick time-to-market.

Correlant Communications is a premier developer of advanced digital communications products for the cable and satellite industries. Corelant’s TurboPort™ PCI cable modem is DOCSIS compliant and upgradeable to DOCSIS 1.1.

“We are pleased to see that the Everex IntelliWAY broadband gateway hardware platform is being combined with a cable modem front end,” said Ajay Padgaonkar, manager of the residential gateway business unit at National Semiconductor. “The system level flexibility offered by National’s Geode architecture enables Jungo to easily switch to a cable rather then a DSL front end which allows them to leverage the vast majority of software that is based on the Geode x86 architecture. Such flexibility provides simultaneous reduction of development cost as well as time-to-market.”

“As the residential broadband Internet market for cable modems continues to grow, manufacturers must remain competitive by deploying a feature-rich modular system approach.” Said Udi Yuhjtman, vice president of operations and business development for Jungo. “We are glad to be the software solution behind today’s many exciting and diverse access devices.”

“Everex is pleased to partner with National, Correlant and Jungo to provide a complete all in one DOCSIS enabled gateway platform named Intelliway” said Richard Nidever, Director Strategic Alliances “The highly-customizable Intelliway allows network operators to have the flexibility to create the optimal integrated solution for high value services such as entertainment media distribution, energy management, home security and voice technology.”
