WellTech Selects Jungo’s OpenRG Software for New VoIP Gateway
Product development time shortened through use of Jungo’s residential gateway software optimized for the Intel® IXP420 network processor
San Jose, Calif., Feb. 20, 2003
Jungo® Software Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of residential gateway software, today announced that its OpenRG™ residential gateway software, optimized for the Intel® IXP420 network processor, will provide the core infrastructure for WellTech’s new broadband Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) gateway.
OpenRG is a complete set of software technologies for residential gateways that enables the delivery of advanced broadband services and simplifies networking for broadband users and service providers. By choosing the combined hardware and software platform of OpenRG on the Intel® IXP420 network processor, WellTech, a leading manufacturer of VoIP and computer telephony solutions, has been able to simplify the product development cycle, focus on product customization and bring a high-performance VoIP gateway to market sooner.
“The development work done by Intel and Jungo has made it easier for WellTech to develop their new gateway based on the IXP420 network processor,” said Nick Finamore, general manager, Intel Network Processor Division. “Jungo’s OpenRG provides an open software platform that has been optimized for the IXP4XX product line and is increasingly popular with broadband customer premise equipment manufacturers.”
With OpenRG integrated into its new VoIP gateway, WellTech is able to offer its customers a product that delivers advanced broadband services, secure networking, intuitive web-based management and remote upgrade capabilities. In addition, to enable voice services, the gateway supports leading VoIP industry standards, including H.323 and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). The gateway also offers networking over an Ethernet switch, USB 1.1 slave and wireless local area network (LAN) interfaces 802.11a and b.
“Jungo’s OpenRG optimized for the Intel® IXP420 network processor enabled us to smoothly integrate a wide variety of applications and interfaces into our new VoIP gateway,” said John Chen, President of WellTech. “With this infrastructure in place, we are easily able to add our added-value features, save precious development time and bring the gateway to our customers sooner.”
In response to WellTech’s selection of OpenRG, Udi Yuhtjman, VP business development of Jungo commented: “Jungo’s choice of reference designs on the Intel® IXP4XX product line provides broadband CPE manufacturers with a flexible architecture for multiple applications and support for a variety of WAN and LAN technologies. WellTech has been able to maximize these core technologies to develop a sophisticated VoIP gateway that we look forward to seeing deployed by service providers and retailers alike.”
