Device Firmware Upgrade (DFU) Overview

Jungo offers a complete Device Firmware Upgrade (DFU) driver solution for USB devices. The driver enables users to upgrade their USB device firmware as new and improved firmware is issued by manufactures. The DFU driver is designed so that any class of USB device can deploy new firmware updates.

USB DFU Background

With the rapid pace of hardware development and design, manufacturers require a method of deploying enhanced firmware on existing USB devices. The USB DFU driver has been designed specifically for this task. The DFU has been standardized by the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) to provide manufacturers with a certified mechanism to upgrade the firmware on USB devices. Using Jungo's USB DFU driver, manufacturers provide end-users with an upgraded software package and Jungo's USB DFU driver is responsible for installing the firmware on the device.
